Morten Grove Frandsen

(b. 1987) began his studies in 2007 under Hanna Hjort at MGK Frederiksberg. In 2010, he was accepted as a student at RDAM, where he first studied under Jens Krogsgaard and completed his BA under Kirsten Buhl Møller. In 2012, he decided to change from baritone to countertenor, and that same year he was approved as a student at the Royal Opera Academy in Copenhagen as its very first countertenor. He will complete his studies here in 2016.

In 2013, Morten Grove Frandsen sang the role of Super-Egon in the Aarhus Summer Opera production of Egoland by John Frandsen, and in summer 2014 he sang Ruggiero at the Riga Baroque production of Vivaldi’s Orlando Furioso. In 2015, he is participating in The Funen Opera production of A Doll’s House by John Frandsen.

Scholarship

The scholarship of DKK 60,000 will be used for countertenor studies abroad and for a CD recording with a baroque ensemble for use in auditions at European opera houses.
