Léonie Sonning Talent Prize 2022
Magnus Plejdrup was born in 1995 in Viborg and grew up in Randers, Denmark. He is a trained classical composer from the Conservatory in Aarhus and has studied orchestra conducting in Glasgow at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. While doing his studies, Magnus has conducted e.g., Scottish Opera Orchestra and BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. In addition, he has participated in masterclasses in orchestral conducting with the Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra and Alim Shakh in Olomouc, Czech Republic. His works have been performed by Orchestra Midwest, Esbjerg Ensemble, and the Jutland Conservatory of Music Symphony Orchestra. In May 2021, he won the audience award at the Randers Chamber Orchestra’s composer competition on its 75th anniversary. Magnus is also the founder, artistic director, and former chief conductor of the Aarhus Chamber Orchestra Ensemble, Pluma, as well as part of the artistic management behind the Aarhus Chamber Music Festival.
