Joachim Becerra Thomsen (b. 1995) was admitted at the age of 12 to the Junior Academy of the Royal Danish Academy of Music. In 2012, he started his flute studies at the Royal Danish Academy of Music under Ulla Miilmann. Concurrently with this, Joachim Becerra Thomsen has assisted the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Danish Orchestra and the Danish National Chamber Orchestra. He has received a large number of scholarships and prices and has won the gold medal in Berlingske’s Classical Music Competition and the 1st price at Øresunds Solist. In 2014, he was semi-finalist in Carl Nielsen’s International Flute Competition. He has attended master classes with Pierre-Yves Artaud, Susan Milan and Henrik Wiese among others. In may 2015 he won the competition for co-principal flute in Malmö Symphony Orchestra, but as of January 2016 he has a contract as principal solo flutist with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra. Recently he has been accepted to the prestigious music academy, the Colburn School in Los Angeles.

Scholarship

The scholarship of DKK 60,000 is to be used for master classes with Emmanuel Pahud and Dennis Bouriakov and for private lessons with Mathieu Dufour, Dennis Bouriakov and Jim Walker in Berlin and Los Angeles.
