Léonie Sonning Talent Prize 2012
Eskild Skovbakke Winding made his debut as a soloist with an orchestra in 2005 – Rachmaninov’s second piano concerto, together with the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra. On several occasions, Eskild Skovbakke Winding has been a soloist with the University of Southern Denmark’s Chamber Orchestra, here in Denmark, at Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires and in Konzerthaus Berlin. He was on a study trip to Prague in 2003 and to Berlin in 2010, and has taken part in master classes with, among others, Irina Ossipova, Eugine Indjic, Karl Leister, the Emerson Quartet and Roger Vignoles.
Biography
Eskild Skovbakke Winding qualified from the soloist class at The Royal Danish Academy of Music in Aarhus 2011 after studying for seven years under Anne Øland. During these years, he gave concerts in Denmark, Argentina, Germany, the Netherlands, Finland, Norway and Russia. He made his debut as a soloist with an orchestra in 2005 – Rachmaninov’s second piano concerto, together with the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra. Eskild Skovbakke Winding has received a number of grants, including ones from Augustinus fonden, Solistforeningen af 1921 and V. Makwarth’s Musiklegat, and in 2011 he was made city artist in Horsens with the ensemble Lydenskab.
‘I hope the future has many concerts of many different types in store. I want to get out and play – use my education and do what I can to spread classical music. I will try to come up with new ideas about the classical concert form, without compromising the music, and especially in the ensemble Lydenskab I am attempted to get music out to those who do not normally come to the concert hall.
Scholarship from the Léonie Sonning Music Foundation
The scholarship of DKK 60,000 from the Léonie Sonning Music Foundation will be used for studies in Rome and Denmark under Mirta Herrera and Anne Øland. In that connection Eskild Skovbakke will prepare two concert programmes with music by such composers as Liszt, Beethoven and Bach.
