Stina Schmidt made her debut at The Royal Danish theatre as Flora in La Traviata, and later toured the country with the performance “Opera ind til benet”. In 2012 she could be heard as Cherubino in “The Marriage of Figaro”, Ophelia in Beach Edition and as the 3rd lady/boy in The New Opera’ production of The Magic Flute. In autumn 2012 she took part in The Royal Danish Theatre’s production of Carmen when it was on tour.
She plays duets with the pianist Christine Raft and collaborates with the baritone Simon Duus Svendsen. She is a frequently used concert singer in Danish musical life.
Biography
Stina Schmidt (b. 1978) completed her studies at the Academy of Opera in 2011 and has also taken the music teacher exam at The Royal Danish Academy of Music in Aarhus. She has studied under Anne Margrethe Dahl, Fiona MacSherry, Ulrich Stærk, Thomas Darelius, Rachel Andrist, Mikael Eliasen and Gregory Lamar. Roles she has studied include that of Octavian in Rosenkavalier, Nerone in The Coronation of Poppaea, Mother Marie in Dialogues of the Carmelites, Carmen, Sesto in Titus, Jocasta in King Oedipus, Baba in The Rake’s Progress and the composer in Ariadne on Naxos.

Scholarship from the Léonie Sonning Music Foundation
Stina Schmidt has received a scholarship of DKK 60,000.
The scholarship is to be used for studying with Gregory Lamar in New York and with Fiona MacSherry in England – the focus being on studying selected Strauss parts in their entirety.
